Executive Hangar Reconstruction Area A
Is just about to be finished. There is a few patching items left to be completed. A punch list will be created and addressed to finish the project.
Executive Hangar Reconstruction Area B
Jones Brothers should be completed with Phase 2 and will move on to Phase 3 the 25th.
Northwest Taxiway Extension Project
Roadways have been completed and the hangars are in the final phases of completion.
New Parking Construction
Bids should be announced in May and the plan is to have the lot open by the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Progress is continuing, we along with the FAA are trying to iron out the details to get the airport approved for spaceflight. Keep in mind we are attempting to become the first Part 139 certificated airport with active air carrier flights to be certified as a spaceport.
Regional Airport Board
Airport Planning Board
May 21, 2013 @ 9:00AM
Up 2.8% over May of 2011. For the year we are up 3.5%.
Fuel Sales are down in all sectors other than Airline/Cargo customers.
We are month over month over the nine year average.
Rehabilitate Taxiway Systems
Painting still needs to be completed on TWYs A, B, M, P, W. A hold short marking is missing on TWY W prohibiting us from opening RWY 16L/34R. Winds have prevented the painting contractor from actually laying out the markings.
Executive Apron Reconstruction
Phase 2 will have hot mix applied in about 2 weeks and should be completed by the next meeting.
The next major project in the executive hangar area that will be done is the reconstruction of all the ramp areas near the hangars west of the current work. It will be broken down into phases so only a few hangars are displaced at a time.
Old East Hangar
The building has been taken down and the final debris removal is being finished.
2012 Disaster Exercise (DisEx)
The disaster exercise went very well. We had all the local law enforcement and mutual aid responders show up. the local area hospitals also participated to earn mass casualty credit.

Parking Lot Addition
A feasibility study has been done on a vacant lot west of the existing parking lots with three phases. Whether or not it is covered is an additional cost consideration that needs to be discussed. Initial estimates show the cost to construct the lot will double if the lot is covered. A construction proposal will be drafted to submit to the board at the next meeting.
Southwest Airlines Flight Schedule
Starting in November 2012 Southwest will add an extra Houston and Las Vegas flight. As a result of those additions we will lose a Dallas flight. A net gain and a positive sign that Southwest believes in Midland’s passenger base. We hope to see a new 737-800 on some of those flights.
The next meeting is Tuesday, August 21, 2012 @ 9:00 a.m.

Commercial Passenger Enplanements
During the board meeting today we heard several different progress reports. We will try to highlight a few of them here today. Overall, enplanements at MAF have been positive for several months in a row.
Airfield Construction Updates
Taxiway reconstruction is moving along very well. Our contractor has completed the last two sections of milling and repaving early. Currently cold tar sealant is being applied to several sections of the airfield that require the continued closure of several surfaces including three of our four runways.
We anticipate the painting segment of this project will be completed soon. Of course that is entirely dependent on the weather. With the windy spring we have been having our painting contractor has been monitoring the weather very closely to take advantage of any calmer days.
Our thermoplastic contractor has completed the sign installation around the airfield and they look very nice.
Executive Hangar Pavement
The first section has been completed. After a long process on the first section before the second section can be started we have required the contractor submit a letter verifying all supplies and material has been acquired and is standing by for installation. The next sections to be reconstructed are being reconsidered.
Northwest Taxiway Extension
The wet utilities have been completed around the new pavement and lines have also been placed for future hangar development. Oncor Electric, Atmos Energy, and AT&T will be installing their services soon for the hangar construction and tenants. The overall completion timeline is 45-60 days from now.
That is all we have for now. Check back here for more in-depth updates. Facebook and Twitter will have more frequent updates on the day to day activities at the airport. Thank you, have a great day and safe travels.
